The Nikkei Internment Memorial Centretells the story of over 20,000 Japanese Canadians who were stripped of their civil rights, labeled “enemy aliens” and uprooted from their coastal homes during World War II. Located on the site of a wartime internment camp, the original buildings, period artifacts, interpretive displays and Heiwa Teien garden chronicle this extraordinary episode in Canadian history.
